Ron Enticott -  Chairman and Trustee

I first got involved with One- to- One in 1997. I went as a member of Chertsey Rotary Club to assist at Saturday events which were held then at White Lodge. It was my practical skills that caught the eye of the activities co-ordinator Celia Leggett, I enjoyed the company and have been involved ever since. For the last 10 years I have been chairman.

As a child I went on holiday to Devon and stayed with relations. Gertie and Ed were part of the family and although I did not know it at the time they had learning disabilities and they were great fun.

I have 2 daughters from my first marriage and 5 grandchildren. I am now happily married to Gwyneth, a teacher, who has a son and daughter.

I have always been involved in community activities through my church, Rotary, local business groups, Chertsey Agricultural Association, High Sheriff Youth Awards Council, Scouts and as Chairman of Freemantles  School Governing Body which is a special school for pupils with social and communication needs.

I am a Chartered Accountant and run my own practice

 Celia Leggett - Treasurer

I have been with One-to-One for about thirty years though I find that hard to believe myself. Originally I was the Coordinator when One-to-One first started in this area at what was then Botleys Park Hospital, (later Bournewood) near St Peter's in Chertsey. I recruited and helped train volunteers to work with people with a learning disability who had been referred by their key workers as likely to benefit and expand their horizons with the help of a befriender to introduce them to life in the outside community.(At this time many people had been in an Institution since childhood.)

We held social events and took outings so that members and volunteers could meet and socialise. Later with the help of volunteers we formed a committee and eventually obtained status as an independent charity. Spelthorne Borough kindly offered us free office accommodation at Knowle Green, we obtained a grant monitored by Mencap, and a wonderful donation from TASIS school in Chertsey, recruited our first Coordinator, and embarked on the journey that One-to-One (North West Surrey) still continues today .I am delighted to still be part of our lively friendly charity which offers friendship and fun to our nembers and their famiies throughout three boroughs.
